LONERISM

Handmade Album

BRIEF:

Step away from the computer and re-create the album cover for Tame Impala’s “Lonerism” album

SOLUTION:

Using contrasting marbling ink colors and patterns, I created a pattern evoking the sense of self isolation, introspection, and worldly curiosity that the album speaks to.

Tame Impala's Kevin Parker describes the story of "Lonerism" as “someone growing up and realizing their place is not involved with the rest of the world, discovering they are a loner.”

In the “apocalypse dreams” track, the questions of “am I getting close? will I ever get there? does it even matter?” are examples of the type of introspection, curiosity, and self isolation that are prevalent throughout the album.

I carefully created patterns with contrasting marbling inks to achieve a unique texture in order to express the concept of the "loner" integrating with the journey of finding their place in the world.
